Computing

Primary education is now moving on alongside our developing world of technology. ICT is now known as computing and aims to develop children’s computational thinking and creativity to help them to understand the changes in the world of technology.

Computing is based around how computers and the computer system work, and how they are designed and programmed.

Aims

The national curriculum for computing aims to ensure that all pupils:

  1. Can understand and apply key elements of computer science. This includes abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation.
  2. Can analyse problems through practical experience of writing their own computer programs
  3. Are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information communication technology

How this looks in our school:

Key stage 1
