Community Links
At St Philip’s Primary Catholic school, we value the importance of developing strong links between the school and the local community. Almost all that we do contributes to our pupils developing a sense of belonging to a community and having some responsibility for our world and its people. As children grow older, we encourage them to be more involved with the wider community by supporting local initiatives, charities and institutions. We take part in local competitions and events such as art exhibitions and community carol singing.
Supporting local charities:
We work with several local charities to help and support them in their work. We run various fundraising efforts such as collecting food for the local food banks during our Harvest Liturgy. We also run an annual ‘Enterprise Day’ raising funds for a local charity decided by each class. Years 5 and 6 fundraise for CAFOD through two Frugal Lunches. This is open to parents and parishioners.
We work closely with CAFOD and have regular assemblies where we find out new ways we can fundraise for others.
Our CAFOD assemblies help to raise awareness of others in our world who need our help and support.
